APEN CONFERENCES

APEN Conference made its debut on the 26^th and 27^th of October 2009 with the THEME: PARTNERING IN EDUCATING THE NIGERIAN CHILD: The keynote speaker was Professor Akin Oyebode (Representative of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State).

The conference also had Mr.Matt Nink from Global Youth Leadership Institute,USA and Mr John Lobban from our affiliated association in Africa, ISASA(Independent schools of South Africa) as speakers.This was held at NECA(Nigeria’s consultative employers association) at Agidingbi

The Conference has about 250 participants.

Ina quest to revamp the education standard in Nigeria,the chairman of APEN,Dr Olufemi Ogunsanya met with the then Deputy Governor of Lagos State,Mrs Sarah Sosan and proposed to her that APEN would like to partner with Lagos State and conduct a seminar for 50(fifty) principals form Lagos State public schools.

The Seminar took place on the 29^th of October,at SUBEB,Maryland,Lagos.

The theme was “PRIVATE EDUCATION: SETTING THE PACE.”

1. The 3rd APEN Conference took place on the 24th,25th,26th of October,2011 at Chrisland Secondary School,VGC,Ajah.

2. The theme of the conference was “TRANSFORMATION: MORE THAN JUST A CHANGE.”
The Conference had its speaker as Dr.Tokunboh Awolowo-Dosunmu.

3. It was declared thath the educational system is weak in Nigeria,and dissatisfaction with the quality of education is the highest in the world.If there has to be transformation,then education must be taken seriously since it is the engine of national transformation.

Due to expansion and growth and the involvement of the Ministry of Education and stakeholders,APEN held its 4th Annual Conference at the Haven,Oba Akinjobi Street,GRA,Ikeja on the 22nd,23rd and 24th of October,2012.

2. The theme was “EQUIPPING SCHOOLS TO SUSTAIN CHANGE”. The keynote speaker was Mr. Aigboje Aig Imoukhede,Group managing Director/CEO Access Bank Plc.

The 5th Annual Conferencewas held on the 31st October to the 2nd November 2013 at the Eko Hotels & Suites Lagos, Nigeria.The theme of the Conference was “LEAP,ACHIEVE,SUCCEED”.

The Conference was declared open by Mrs. Oladunjoye(Former Commissioner of Education, Lagos State. Its keynote speaker was Mr. Tonye Cole, CEO Sahara Group.

The 6th Annual Conference took place from the 18th to 20th of November 2015 at The Eko Hotel and Suites Lagos, Nigeria. The theme of this conference was “BEYOND THE LIMITS”.

Mr Wole Oshin,Group Managing Director,Custodian Insurance delivered the keynote address.Other speakers included Mr James Kassaga,Mr Ituah Ighodalo,Mr Leke Alder,Mr Fela Durotoye and Mrs Ibukun Awosika.

The 7th Annual Conference was held from 2nd to 4th of November 2016 at Lagos Business School,Pan-Atlantic University,Ajah,Lagos,Nigeria.The theme of the conference was “EXPLORE,DISCOVER,INNOVATE”.

Mr.Gbenga Oyebode,Chairman Teach for Nigeria delivered the keynote address thereby setting the tone for the conference.Other speakers included: Mrs Ndidi Nwuneli,Ms.Patti Boulaye,Mr Peter Bamkole and Mr.Valentine Obi

The 8th Annual Conference was held from the 1st – 3rd November 2017 at Lagos Business School,Pan-Atlantic University,Lagos,Nigeria.The theme for the Conference was “Inspire,Develop,Connect:Reinventing the Learning Space”.The opening declaration was conducted by his Excellency the british High Commissioner,Mr.Paul Arkwright Esq,CMG.Dr.Doyin Salami,an adjunct faculty member of the Lagos Business School,delivered the keynote address thereby setting the tone for the Conference.Other speakers included: Mrs.Adenike Adeyemi,Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha,Dr Tunji Abimbola and Mr.Lanre Olusola.

The 9th Annual Conference was held from 7th – 9th November,2018 at Lagos Business School,Pan-Atlantic University,Lagos,Nigeria.The theme for the Conference was “Transforming School Culture:Librerating Mindsets for a Holistic Approach”.The opening declaration was conducted by the Head of Mission,Embassy of Finland,Abuja, Jyrkki Pulkkinen.Other speakers included: Mrs Adesola Sotande-Peters,Mrs Olubunmi Aboderin Talabi,Mr Folusho Phillips,Emeritus Professor Pai Obanya and Juan Manuel Elegido.
