COURSE DURATION
SLD runs over a period of one year in different phases to accomplish the sole aim of bringing out the best in school leaders using varied approaches. The programme begins with the in-class training/capacity building for a period of 6 months, then they move on to work as interns with selected businesses in Nigeria and intern with schools abroad for 4 weeks. And then conclude with the year-long program with a retreat.
IN-CLASS SESSIONS
In class, participants interact face to face with facilitators and fellow participants,study and discuss cases in groups, share ideas, engage in role-play activities, and take on very intellectual and exciting games to bring out their best in a relaxed atmosphere.
ONLINE SESSIONS
Each participant will be given an electronic tablet pre-loaded with various learning tools including a learning journal to enable them keep notes, observations and thoughts; reading materials and other applications to support the learning process.
Participants will also be issued exclusive online licences to access the EDC portal that will enable participants to read and download notes, training slides, case studies and watch videos. They will also participate in online discussions; undergo peer to peer learning and online mentoring.
EXPERIMENTAL LEARNING
On specially selected modules, after a combination of both in class and online learning, participants will have the opportunity of learning on the field (Learning Journey) This will bring to life the learning but more importantly the individual discovery makes learning memorable. Customer service and networking are examples of modules where such experimental learning occur.
INTERNSHIPS
Participants will undergo two forms of internship to further consolidate their professional development. They will be attached to successful entrepreneurs’ /business owners. For a period of four weeks to learn the rudiments of running a business venture. They will further intern (for another four weeks) with any of our partner schools in Africa, UAE and the UK to enhance their instructional leadership skills.
PROJECTS
As part of the one year program requirement, participants will be required to work on individual projects for a period of 3 months. The project will reflect the essence of the SLD and discuss strategies for implementation of the knowledge they have garnered form the entire program, in their respective schools.
RETREAT
The one year programme will be concluded with a 3 day retrest which will help bring all the learning together and focus on next steps. School owners will also be involved at various stages of the program including the retreat.
At the end pf the programme, the participant would have been equipped with the requisite knowledge and skills to implement best practices and run their schools efficiently in accordance with global standard while remaining locally relevant.
